WHO LOVES THE SUN

The Western fence lizard, or blue belly as its commonly known, is the little one that crosses your path 5-20 times a day here. Look no further, though, in fulfilling your desire to wear the most EXOTIC and alluring scales.  This lizard is SWEET, surprisingly not afraid of you, and will win your heart with its curious, INQUISITIVE eye contact.  We all can relate to a creature who LOVES THE SUN, and who cannot appreciate an animal whose blood actually neutralizes Lyme disease in the ticks who feed on it. What a QUIET HERO.  Teach your boyfriend, boss, coworkers and gal pals the name of this prevalent friend through your shameless love affair with this print.

This striking accessory measures 4"x36" and is printed on 100% silk. It's available in just the underbelly blue, or double-sided featuring both blue belly and back scale patterns.

HABITAT + LIFESTYLE

Fence lizards are named so because they love to sun in high places in the summer. In winter they hibernate in rock crevices and under logs. Their diet consists of spiders and insects. Females being laying eggs in their second year - typically three clutches of 10-17 eggs in late spring and early summer.  They can live 5-7 years!

Western fence lizards are quite docile and friendly, though please don't try to pick them up by their tail, as they will detach it readily, and it takes a lot of energy to regrow.

STATUS

The Western fence lizard is common and not considered to be threatened or endangered.
